In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have Internet and check it out. We will try to use more of this in the year 2002. Entry blanks can be obtained by going to the entry and printing out the form. The web page site is:

The next tournament will be held at Weatherwax Golf Course. The format for this tournament will be the same as last year. There are two tournaments combined in one.

1. Two Man Single best ball for both days Saturday & Sunday

2. Two Man Single Best Ball for Sunday only

You can sign up as a twosome and be paired with another twosome or you can sign up as a foursome.

You will play with the same people both days of the tournament. You can play Sunday only if that is your choice.

The cost for this tournament will be $72 for the two day tournament and $39 for  Sunday only. The only thing included in this price is golf fees and tournament prizes. You can win both tournaments and they count as two separate tournaments for the year end standings.

The date of this tournament will be September 14th & 15th with tee times starting at 12:00 P.M. Like all our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used.  There will be two separate pots for each day in the skins and low net side games.

For all players there are optional side pots that consist of:

$5 Low Gross

$5  Low Net

$5  Skins

These side jackpots can be sent in with your entry fee if you know that you are going to get into them. This will help free up time for the people running the tournament to also hit some balls. All players should check in at the table or designated location so the tournament committee knows they are at the course and also to see if they are interested in getting into the side jackpots. The earlier your entry is received the more chance you have of receiving the requested tee time.

The deadline for the Weatherwax Tournament will be Thursday, September 5, 2002. So mail your entries in as soon as possible.  If your entry is not received before Thursday, you could be shutout. Therefore return your entry blanks back as soon as possible. No spots can be held. If you want to play return your entry and money on time.

There will be an October Tournament at Moss Creek on October 5, 2002. This will be the last tournament of the year.

Before turning in your card it is your responsibility to check the scores and make sure they are right. If there is a mistake tell your partners and make the correction before turning in the card. We, the board, do not check scorecards unless your team or an individual cashes in one of the side games. If you turn in an incorrect card that is higher, the board does not change the score.

Overall points for gross, net and money leaders are on the web sight for everyone to access. Bonus money will be given to the leaders of each of these categories at the end of the year.

There has been some discussion that some players are not playing because they want to pick their own foursomes. Lets see if the numbers increase on the next tourney at Weatherwax when you can pick your own foursomes.  Our tournaments have had the following numbers in each tourney.

Heatherwoode                      40

Shaker Run                            44

Beavercreek                          40

Hueston Woods                  48

Hickory Woods                    36

Walden Ponds                      28

Weatherwax                          ??

Moss Creek                           ??

I personally don’t think the numbers will increase if people pair up in their own foursomes. Some people don’t want to play with certain others for various reasons. I think playing with different people allows the opportunity for players to play someone they may never have the opportunity to play with. The idea of the tournament is to play with different people and put a little extra pressure on yourself instead of being comfortable all the time playing with your buddies.
