In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have internet and check it out. We will try to use more of this in the year 2002. Entry blanks can be obtained by going to the entry and printing out the form. The web page site is:

www.tjcope.net/maga

The next tournament will be held at Beavercreek. This will be the least expensive of all our tournaments during the year. The cost for this tournament will be $49. Included in this price will be golf, cart and tournament prize fund. The GPS System which is located on the screens at the top of the cart may be included. The GPS System tells you the yardage you have left from your ball location to the pin.

The date of this tournament will be May 18th with tee times not starting until 11:30 AM. The format of this tourney is a  2  MAN BEST BALL. Sign up as a twosome and we will blind draw tee times and pairings.. Like all our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used.

IF PLAYERS DO NOT HAVE A PAID HANDICAP AND AT LEAST 5 SCORES, THEY WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY HANDICAP FOR THIS TOURNAMENT.

ANY MEMBER FROM 2001 THAT HAS NOT YET PAID HIS 2002 MEMBERSHIP FEE WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY MORE MAILINGS UNLESS PAID AFTER THIS MAILING.

For the new members there are optional side pots that consist of:

$10 Low Gross

$5  Low Net

$5  Skins

These side jackpots can be sent in with your entry fee if you know that you are going to get into them. This will help free up time for the people running the tournament to also hit some balls. All players should check in at the table or designated location so the tournament committee knows they are at the course and also to see if they are interested in getting into the side jackpots. If you have a preference on tee times we will try to accommodate you if possible. The earlier your entry is received the more chance you have of receiving the request.

The deadline for the Beavercreek  Tournament will be Thursday May 9th. So mail your entries in as soon as possible.  If your entry is not received before Thursday you could be shutout.

The June Tournament is scheduled for June 8th at Hueston Woods.

For people who are mailing their entries in separate, make sure your partner also mails in his entry too.

The last tournament we had a little problem with dress codes at a golf course. If you are thinking of wearing jeans to play in check with me or the golf course to see if that is possible. Beavercreek does allow jeans to be worn, but you must have a collared shirt. Soft spikes are also required.

Before turning in your card it is your responsibility to check the scores and make sure they are right. If there is a mistake tell your partners and make the correction before turning in the card. We, the board, do not check scorecards unless your team or an individual cashes in one of the side games.

Also as an added feature to this years letters we have decided to put one rule or information that is not known or followed by many players.

Abnormal Ground Conditions

  1. If your ball is in casual water, ground under repair, or, except in a water hazard, a hole or cast made by a burrowing animal, you may drop without penalty within one club length of the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole, except (a) in a hazrard drop in the nearest position in the hazard which affords maximum relief and is not nearer the hole or, under penalty of one stroke, drop any distance behind the hazard or (b) on the putting green place in the nearest position which affords maximum relief and is not nearer the hole. (25-1b)

  2. If your ball is lost in such a condition (except in a burrowing animal hole in a water hazard, take the same relief based on the point where the ball last crossed the margin of the area. (25-1c)
