Although we didn't miss the rain for this tournament, it turned out to be a nice day after we finished our golf. The people who teed off late had an advantage as

There was a total of 39 players at Hueston Woods for this tournament. The next tournament is at Walden Ponds. This tournament will be played on July 21st, with tee
times starting around 11:30 or 12:00.
The format for this tournament will be a two man team with both balls counting the whole way. Sign up as a twosome with a blind draw for tee pairings.
There was one new player for the Hueston Woods tournament. We hope this list continues to grow throughout the year. In
our last tournament we had a blind draw for pairings. Although this process is not liked by everyone it does allow our members to play and meet others in the MAGA that they do not normally play with or know. We will continue to have blind drawings for tee pairings.
Some members of MAGA let their handicaps expire. No one will have a handicap figured unless they happen to be a new member. A new member must have a paid handicap
card even if they don't have enough scores to figure a handicap. This tournament and the ones to follow, you must have an established, paid handicap or you will have to play scratch. Most courses will make you inactive in their handicap systems if you are not paid before May. A
MAGA handicap is not sufficient to determine a players handicap. There may be some exceptions to this rule but the player had better moved in from out of state. Here is a remaining schedule:
July 21st -
Walden Ponds
August 18th - Pipestone
September 23rd
September 24th - Weatherwax
The deadline for this tournament is July l2th. Because you tell someone that you are going to play doesn't guarantee a spot in the tournament.
A paid entry guarantees a spot. This is one aspect of signing up for tournaments that MAGA is trying to eliminate so we can determine the number of players and send out the tee times on the Web Page. There is a limit on how many players we can have for this tournament so
don't get shutout.
The price for this tournament is $56 which
includes cart and range bails.
In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have
internet and check it out. We will try to put tee times on the site for the upcoming tournaments. If you have internet and look up your tee time on it, send an e-mail to Russ Yenser to let him know you have your tee time and it works at ryenser@siscom.flet.
If you do not have a computer or intemet call Russ Yenser (988-0175) for your tee time after Tuesday July 17th. The web page site is:
MAGA.TJCOPE.NET
There have been a few individuals who call days before our tournament to see if we have any openings. If you want to play get your entries in early. After the
deadline there is no guarantee you can be put in. On your scorecards make sure to circle all natural birdies to help the people in figuring skins. Mail your entries with your money to help the people running the tournament and allow them some time to practice or hit balls.
On the back is a list of the top 10 or 15 players in each of the three
categories for year end awards. [see Results on this web site] Don't forget prizes will be given to the members who
are leading at the end of the year.
Also the last tournament of the year no guests will be
allowed to compete in this tournament. If a new player wants to play he will have to pay the $20 membership fee.
