The 4^th  tournament of the year was played at Kings Island. It was a soggy wet day. Sunday’s 5^th tournament was played at Hueston Woods on a lot better day and surprisingly dryer day. I will give the results after a few tidbits.

I would like to share how to post your scores in the USGA handicap system.

Kings Island is no different than any other posting, but Hueston Woods needs to be posted manually with inputting a rating of 68.0 and a slope of 119. This manually posting can be obtained by scrolling down on the tee selection and following the normal insertions. One thing that is needed on all postings are to adjust your own handicap to cover what USGA allows. Here are a few examples from this past weekend.

Kings Island

#9 Hole Par 5

Larry Lawson made a 13 & Donnie Roberts made an 11.

The two are allowed to make a par (5) + a double bogey (2) + an additional (1) stroke for handicap allowed. So Larry could take an 8 and needs to adjust 5 strokes. Donnie would be allowed to make an (8) and would have to adjust 3 strokes.

Hueston Woods

#11 Hole Par 5

Russ Yenser deposited 4 balls in the water before getting over and took a 12 on the hole. I was allowed to take a Par (5) + double bogey (2) + handicap adjustment of (2) which means an adjusted score of 9 and adjust 3 strokes toward handicap.

The last example was on

#16 Hole Par 3

Scott Shaw proceeded to help raise the water level even though we played the adjusted tees. He deposited 5 new yellow balls into the

water before celebrating after he hit over the green. He was allowed to take the following:

Par (3) + double bogey (2) + handicap adjustment of (1) stroke for a score of 6 for handicap purposes. He would have to adjust 7 strokes off his 13 on that hole.

My point is not all adjust their scores when playing a bad hole. If you don’t understand how to adjust give me a call and I will help you.

The deadline for the Beavercreek Tournament will be Wednesday August 4^th. Entry fee for this tourney is $57 per man which includes greens fee and prize fund .The tee times will start around 11:00 AM. This is a 4 man double best ball format.
