The July tournament of the year was played at Walden Ponds. with 22 players.

So lets write about the issue from the last tournament at Walden Ponds. When I went to choose which tees we were going to play I looked and saw our other years were played from the blue tees. Since the white tees only played 5840 yards and the temperature was going to be 90 degrees I decided that was too short and chose to play the blue tees that we normally played. The blue tees were 6404 yards but with the temperature going to be hot I thought with the fairways being dry there would be some roll. Little did I know that they would water the fairways and green areas too much and no roll at all was had. If I would have known of the wet conditions we would have played the white tees. Many people expressed their concerns about the distance we play. With only about 24 players in the tournaments, probably 20 are over the age of 60. I tried to play the tees around 6100 yards without getting to short.

With our next tournament at Weatherwax we will be playing the white tees. That will be 6433 yards. The next set of tees play 5380 yards and that is too short. Since the fairways are drying out at Weatherwax there should be plenty of roll and will not play as long as the distance reads.

Some have expressed their opinions and may not continue to play. I hope that is not the case.
