The Hickory Woods tournament was played at a shorter course and the scores were lower for most.

You would have to admit that Hickory Woods par 3’s have some of the best scenic views of all the courses we play.

The next tournament will be held at Weatherwax Golf Course. The date of this tournament will be September 12th with tee times starting around 11:00 AM. The format of this tourney will be a 2 man modified Daley system. The deadline for the tournament will be Wednesday September 2, 2015. Entry fee for this tournament is $45. Saturday’s tournament will be played from the SENIOR TEES.

On Sunday September 13, 2015 we will play Armco Park with times starting around 9:00. The format for this tournament is a two man best ball with players receiving half of their handicap. Entry fee is $35 for golfers 55 and older and $37 for golfers under 55.  Like always there will be closest to the pins on every hole.  Also you sign up as individuals and will pick your partner when you finish.

Also it was brought to attention of some players lack of entering scores for handicap purposes. I rarely enter a MAGA score unless told by someone to do so but I have entered scores from some of the low nets that were missing after tournaments. Do your part and enter all scores in your USGA or I will have to make adjustments to your handicaps. If MAGA scores are not entered by the end of August I will add these scores for you.

The format for the Saturday tournament is as follows:

Two man teams

An example:

Golfer will take his handicap and subtract it from 36, that number is his goal to get. Everything after his goal are positive points. If he doesn’t make his goal it is negative.

For example my handicap is 18. Take my 18 subtracted from 36. My number to get is 18. If I make 20 points my score is +2. If I only get 15 points my score is -3.

The points are based on gross score only not net score. The lower your handicap the more points you need to accumulate.

Scoring as follows:

Bogey                    1 point

Par                          2 points

Birdie                     4 points

Eagle                      8 points

Double Eagle        12 points

There are no negative points so double bogey and above is 0.
