The 1st tournament of the 2015 year was held at Walden Ponds. It was delayed due to cold weather but was played after a 1 day delay. Although it was a little cold and more windy it was bearable. I was misinformed on the location of the blue tees and we should have played the white tees. We had 20 golfers for the first tournament.

A situation occurred for this outing that shows why you should always hole out and not take an X. Jim Greer chose not to finish on the 18th hole and eliminated his team from any possibility of winning. If he would have gotten out of the sand and two putted the team of Jim Greer & Roger Campbell would have tied for 1st place. In a format when we are using all balls everyone must finish or be eliminated. On a cool windy day you never know how everyone is playing.

Your USGA handicaps must be paid for by May or I will adjust handicaps accordingly. This was abused last year so if you do not have a paid handicap by May it will be a more drastic measure in order to encourage you to have one.

Remember to pay your membership fee even if you have not played yet. Anyone who hasn’t paid by May will be dropped from e-mails and future mailings.

The next tournament will be held at Hamilton Elks Golf Course. The cost for this tournament will be $52. The date of this tournament will be April 18th with tee times starting around 12:00. The format of this tourney is a 2 man alternating holes.Sign up as a twosome or a foursome. The deadline for Weatherwax is April 8th.

Like all our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used. All players need to pay for their handicaps so they can be found in the GHIN System. Scores must be posted at your respective courses.

For the new members there are optional side pots that consist of low gross, low net and skins. If a person didn’t have a paid handicap for the first tourney he should get one before the next date. Get your handicap cards paid before the next tournament.

Remember if you do not have a playing partner, signup as a single and I will pair you with someone if possible.

Also if there is someone that might want to play in MAGA tell them about it and try to increase the number of players for this year.

There are months throughout the year that have 2 events for a given month like May and September. So save your money so you can enter as many as you can or want too.
