The 3rd  tournament of the year was played at Yankee Trace. In order to prevent playing 6662 yards I adjusted the tees to play closer to 6200 yards. Some people didn’t like this change but it made it more playable for all.

Sunday was almost perfect weather conditions with the exception of a few soggy places from the rain.

Remember you must have a USGA paid handicap or you will be penalized on your handicap. Also if you are a single you can still send in your entry because others are missing partners due to vacations and injuries.

Saturday's tournament at Beckett Ridge was cancelled because of a scheduling blunder on the part of Beckett Ridge. They scheduled a bigger event at the same time of ours and tried to say we were accidentally schedule on Friday. I don’t believe this to be true because I had signed a contract to play on Saturday. They have yet to respond to the screw up.

There also has been some concern about the distances we play from. In an effort to please the majority I have tried to keep the distances between 6100 to 6300 yards. With the majority of our group between 50 and 70 years old, we don’t want to play too long. Although there are a few golfers who can’t reach the par 4’s in two shots we still want the others to enjoy their rounds too. It has been suggested to allow shorter and older players to move up and play the forward tees. I just don’t think this is competing on a level playing field. So we will all play the same tees, except for women, for future tournaments. It would be impossible to allow players by age or abilities to play a different set of tees. Also it would be impossible to determine which players would be moved and be fair to all.

In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website. The web page site is:

One last thing is we are trying to get as many players as possible but we do need to make a better effort to get your entries in on time. Many of you think if put in the mail by the deadline that is good. We need to receive your entry by the deadline. If you are late mailing it out give me a call and let me know it is on the way so I can make the pairings. If I don’t have it you may be shut out.
