MAGA

October
2009

The question of handicaps has been brought to my attention. I can tell you that all MAGA tourneys are put in the computer for MAGA handicaps. I do not put any scores in your USGA handicaps. That is your responsibility to put all scores in your USGA handicap, high and low scores. After doing a lengthy audit there are many players that never put a MAGA score in their USGA. If these scores are not put in for handicap purposes we will adjust to make it fair for all. In the past I did not want to single out people because I thought they would get the message and enter their scores. This has not worked so here are a few current members who have not been submitting their scores and need to catch up. If you need to know your scores you can contact me and I will supply them. It is expected to have this update before the next tourney or adjustments will be made accordingly. The slackers are:

Jim Flannery – No GHIN

Dick Freeman – 6 scores

Jim Greer – 3 scores

George Gross – 3 scores

Herb Holmes – 8 scores

  No MAGA scores this year

Dave Lainhart – 7 scores

Only 2 scores all year no

 MAGA scores at all

Rick Nuthman – 5 scores

Ken Parker – 4 scores

  2 scores in 70’s

Kihm Pinson – 5 scores

John Stanton – 4 scores

Rick Welfare - 3 scores

  2 scores all year

Barry Wills – 3 scores

  No MAGA scores

Chris Wyler – 4 scores

These people need to address the lack of scores submitted. Although some are playing off of a lower MAGA handicap, with these scores it could affect your USGA higher or lower.

The 9th  tournament of the year was played on an almost perfect day for golf.  This was the farthest away we have played any tourney. Although it was my first time playing this course I thought it was in great shape and liked the layout.

The next tournament will be held at Wildwood Golf Course. This will be the last tournament of the year. The date of this tournament will be October 10th  with tee times starting around 11:00 AM. The format for this tourney will be a two man alternating holes. Sign up as a twosome. Pairings will be blind drawn. The deadline for this tourney is Wednesday September 30th . Entry fee for this tournament is $53.

If there are any other courses that you may like to try and play let TJ or me know at Wildwood. Also if there is a tourney or format that you might like to eliminate let us know that also.

Also there is a small group of us that have went to Myrtle Beach in February in the past and are considering going to Florida this year over the winter. If there is some interest let Russ Yenser know and I can get in touch with you after I have more details. We would still be going around the middle of February. We would like to get 20 golfers so 1 trip would be free in which we put that money back in the prize pool.

Also on October 4th the annual Horn Scramble will be held at Wildwood Golf Course. This tourney is a 3 man scramble, blind drawn, and played in sixsomes so there is no cheating. Each team must use at least 3 tee shots from the players. The entry is $60 for non-members and $40 for Wildwood members. If interested check at the Wildwood Pro Shop or give me a call.
