The 3rd tournament of the 2006 year was held at Walden Ponds on a day that ended up not to bad weather wise. The forecast held out long enough for most of us to get just a little rain and not soaked. I thought the course was in pretty good shape for the amount of rain we had received. It was a surprise to see we were allowed to leave the cart path and drive in the fairways. That sped up the round a little, even though someone was slow and backed up the field for the people who played last.
Just a reminder that there is no guarantee if you cancel out after paying your entry fees that you will get a refund. We try to find replacements but if not you may lose your money. We have to give the course a number of golfers 10 days in advance and some of the courses lock you in on that number.
There are a handful of members who do not have partners all the time. If you sign up as a single we will pair those people together if you want to play. We had forty golfers for this tourney but struggled to find some people to play after a couple of cancellations at the last minute. Also some of the entries are coming a day late in the post office box. Try to mail them as soon as possible so they will get there in time.
The winners of the tourney were TJ Cope and Jim Caulfield with a best ball score of 64. Also Nick Callsen recorded an eagle on a par four to win one of the three skins which paid $66 apiece.
Also just to let you know, Shaker Run reimbursed MAGA $80 because the driving range was unable to be used at the last tourney. The money was put back into the prize fund to be given away for year end awards.

The next tournament will be held at Hueston Woods. The date of this tournament will be June 10th with tee times starting at 8:00 AM. The format of this tourney is a 2 MAN alternate holes. Sign up as a twosome. This price of $42 does not include a cart or range balls. The deadline for this tourney is May 31, 2006. You can walk if you want too. People will be paired by a blind draw. Handicaps are the responsibility of the individuals. I do not post scores for your USGA handicaps. You must do that yourself. Many people did not or do not have the right amount of scores for your USGA handicaps. Like all of our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used. We do occasionally check to see if some of our low net people post the low scores too. If someone continues to stay at a higher handicap in their USGA without posting all their scores we will question their handicaps and adjust if necessary. People who do not have a paid handicap from here on out will not receive the adjusted handicaps to the course rating we play. There were about a half a dozen from last tourney that still needed to pay for their handicap cards.
This will be the last mailing to members who have not paid for the 2006 memberships.
