The 4th tournament of the year saw the twosome of Jim Greer and Roger Campbell come up with the win .After a rainout on the first attempt, we were able to get the tourney in two weeks later. We were cut down from 40 to 32 golfers but the second day was a beautiful day for golf. The only problem was the bugs that were flying around. With only 32 golfers for this tourney our numbers seem to be a little less than the past years. If you know someone who might be interested in playing in the MAGA please contact them and try to increase the number of players for future tourneys.

The next tournament will be held at Kings Island. The date of this tournament will be July 22rd with tee times starting at 12:00 PM. The format of this tourney will be a four man triple best ball. You may sign up as a twosome or a foursome. Sign up as a twosome and people will be paired by a blind draw. Like all of our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used.
The deadline for the Kings Island Tournament will be Wednesday July 12th. Entry fee for this tourney is $56 which includes greens fees, carts, range balls and prize fund. Range balls will be included if there is still a range available.
Kings Island Golf Course has had a makeover and changed quite a bit I have heard. This change is not for the better. Some holes have been eliminated.
On another subject if a person is going to play as a guest he must have a USGA handicap. If he or she is going to join and has never had a handicap we will try and give them one. It is not fair to give handicaps to people when you do not know how or when they play.
The last tournament of the year is up in the air right now. We are still negotiating with Wildwood Golf Course on a fair price for the October |
tournament. It should be determined before the next tournament at Kings Island. If we do not play there, we will look into other courses for our last tournament.
The August tourney will be two separate days on August 19th and 20th. This will be two separate tourneys and you can play in one or both. The second one on Sunday will be a Ryder Cup format with handicap. Player A will tee off on all the odd holes and Player B will tee off on all the even holes then the players will alternate each shot until the hole is finished. Heatherwoode is only charging us one greens fee per team which will be divided by the two players. Most courses will not let us play this type of format but Heatherwoode has agreed to try it and see how many players we can get for this format. On Saturday the tourney will be a regular tourney at Beavercreek.
For the people who had paid for the Hueston Woods tourney but were not able to play on the rescheduled date here is a list of who has a credit. If your name is not on this list, then either you did not pay or a substitute played in your place and worked out a deal with your credit. Send a note with your next entry to let me know you are using your credit. Here is the list.
Bill Watkins $52 Gregg Griffiths $52 Chris Wyler $52 Jim Flannery $52 Rick Welfare $52 Barry Wills $52 Dennis Daley $54 George Lackens $52 John Knechtly $52 Herb Holmes $47 Steve Goertemiller $47 Ron Miller $52 Mike Whittaker $47
