April
2006

The 1st  tournament of the 2006 year was held at Stonelick Hills on a wet  day for golf. It was obvious that our members didn’t take advantage of the swing analysis or professional help that was free on the range before golf.  We had 36 golfers for the first tournament. There were two eagles made for skins at Stonelick Hills. One was by John O’Donnell on a par five and the other by Mark Mattingly on a par four. Everyone in the field was in the skin game. Remember to sign up for your handicap cards as soon as possible. The winners are as follows:

In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have internet and check it out. The web page site is:

MAGA.TJCOPE.NET

Remember to pay your membership fee even if you have not played yet. Anyone who hasn’t paid by May will be dropped from e-mails and future mailings.

The next tournament will be held at Shaker Run. The cost for this tournament will be $59. Included in this price will be golf, cart, range balls and tournament prize fund.  The GPS System tells you the yardage you have left from your ball location to the pin.

The date of this tournament will be April 22nd  with tee times starting at 8:30 AM. The format of this tourney is a 4 man double best ball.  Sign up as a twosome. Like all our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used. If new players have not yet established a handicap by tournament time, I will figure it. Scores must be posted at your respective courses.

For the new members there are optional side pots that consist of low gross, low net and skins. If a person didn’t have a paid handicap for the first tourney he should get one before the next date. There were 3 that fell into this situation. Some courses will drop you at the beginning of the calendar year. So get your handicap cards paid for.

These side jackpots can be sent in with your entry fee if you know that you are going to get into them. This will help free up time for the people running the tournament to also hit some balls. All players should check in at the table or designated location so the tournament committee knows they are at the course and also to see if they are interested in getting into the side jackpots. If you prepay or pay at the course for the side games we are checking them off on the tee sheets, so make sure you get checked if you pay or prepay.

The deadline for the Shaker tournament will be Wednesday April 12th. This date is a little quick notice so get your entries in as soon as possible.

We had 4 old players who came back and played again after more than a years absence. We hope that new members continue to join and play.

Remember there is a dress code at Shaker Run. No blue jeans or cut-off jeans are allowed.
