Instead of putting the results for the last tournament first there are a few announcements that need to be made.

1.    Any member who has not paid his yearly membership dues, this will be the last mailing you will receive.

2.    If you do not have a paid USGA handicap for the May tournament you will receive a 0. If you have a paid handicap card, bring it with you in case it needs to be verified.

3.     There has been some discussions among members that every tournament a player should be able to pick his or her foursome to play in. Although this was discussed in the past and iniated  to stop the possibility of cheating and to pair players who would normally never play together. This helps members get to know who is winning their money and how they compare to other players.

When sending in your entries for the Moss Creek Tournament on a separate piece of paper or on the back of the entry let us know how you feel. The current process is not going to change just because a few members want this. It would have to be an overwhelming side to be changed. Also some current and past members have said they will not play if they cannot pick their own foursome. I feel we want to continue to grow in numbers but are not going to cater to a select few.

In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have internet and check it out. We will try to use more of this in the year 2003. The web page site is:

TJCOPE.NET/MAGA

Anyone who has chosen the internet option will not receive anymore paper material from MAGA. All information is located on the above website. Anything that has a line under the heading can be printed.

The next tournament will be held at Moss Creek.  The date of this tournament will be May 17th with tee times not starting until 11:00 AM. The format of this tourney is a 4  MAN DOUBLE BEST BALL. Sign up as a twosome or foursome. If you sign up as a twosome teams will be drawn together. Like all of our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used.  Scores must be posted at your respective courses.

For all of our members we have optional side games. If you know you are going to enter one of the side games send it in with your entry blank. This will free up the board to get some practice putts in. Members should check in upon arrival at the golf course so we know that you are there.

$5 Low Gross

$5  Low Net

$5  Skins

The deadline for the Moss Creek Tournament will be Thursday May 8th. Entry fee for this tourney is $51 which includes greens fee, cart and prize fund.

As it was in the first tourney at Kings Island,  Mark Mattingly & Terry McGuire won a share of their second straight tournament at Shaker Run. Although the rough was brutal at Shaker it is still one of the best courses in the area especially for the price it cost us to play.
