The survey from last months question on which people preferred by playing as twosomes and blind drawing or picking your own foursome for tournaments was not answered but by two people who entered last tournament. This shows the board that there is not enough to change anything any different than the way it currently is being ran.

The  3rd tournament of the 2003  year was held at Moss Creek on a nasty wet day. Like the previous two tournaments Mark Mattingly and Terry McGuire continued to get a share of the first place prize. This makes three in a row for them. Aaron Donelson showed that the elements didn’t bother him too much. He won a share of 1st place, Low Gross, one closest to the pin and two skins for a total of $210. Not bad for a days work. The yearly points leaders can be seen on the website. If you do not have a computer a list will be available at the next tournament. There was a three way tie for this tournament.

Also John Stanton would have won a skin on #12 hole with a birdie but chose not to enter the skins game.

There is usually about 6 or 7 people who don’t get into the skins game or low net but that is their option.

The winners are as follows:

In an effort to get information to the members TJ Cope has developed a website with information about past and future tournaments. Log on if you have internet and check it out. We will try to use more of this in the year 2003. The web page site is:

TJCOPE.NET/MAGA

Anyone who has chosen the internet option will not receive anymore paper material from MAGA. All information is located on the above website. Anything that has a line under the heading can be printed.

The next tournament will be held at Hueston Woods.  The date of this tournament will be June 7th with tee times starting at 8:00 AM. The format of this tourney is a 2 MAN BOTH BALL. Sign up as a twosome.

People will be paired by a blind draw. Like all of our remaining tourneys full handicap will be used.  Scores must be posted at your respective courses.

For all of our members we have optional side games. If you know you are going to enter one of the side games send it in with your entry blank. This will free up the board to get some practice putts in. Members should check in upon arrival at the golf course so we know that you are there.

The deadline for the Hueston Woods Tournament will be Thursday May 29th. Entry fee for this tourney is $40 which includes greens fee and prize fund. Carts are not included in this price. You must get and pay for your own carts. You can walk if you want too.

People who send in their entry fees and side games in advance will be given first choices if possible when requesting certain tee times. Everyone wants to play early.

We currently have about 59 members in the MAGA. That is down from the 74 or so from last year. We hope to continue to add more members in the future. Remember anyone who adds a new paying member that was not on last years list will receive a $5 refund for recruiting a new member. Past members would count if they didn’t play or belong last year.

The July tournament will be a little different but the format will be explained in the next newsletter. Points will be rewarded  for par or better. This stableford system is played on the PGA Tour. Ours will be a modified system.
